Father, we thank you this morning for those who have helped us in our journey with you, for those who have helped us to understand more about the Christian faith.

  • We thank you for those people who have helped us to know your love.
  • Where there have been people in our lives who have taken the risk to share their own faith with us, through what they have done or through what they have said, we thank you Father.
  • For the people we know or have known whose living faith has touched our lives, we thank you now in the silence of our hearts.

Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer

Father, we know that the Church can only thrive for one generation unless people go on doing what was done for us - sharing their faith in action and explanation.

  • We pray for our Church and for the other Church communities in Willingham, that together we will seek to make the Gospel relevant and attractive.
  • We ask that you will help us to live holy lives that draw others to Christ.
  • We pray that we will recognise the opportunities for sharing the Gospel in our community and that we will learn to follow where the Holy Spirit leads.

Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer

Father, we recognise our own reluctance in sharing our faith:  the fear of embarrassment, of seeming to be manipulative, of losing the trust of friends. Give us instead, hearts full of love, and lives centred on Jesus, so that our words and actions are consistently Christian. So, we pray, that we may find ourselves naturally talking of Christian things, or of talking of other things in a Christian way.

  • Help us in the way we respond to stories in the news.
  • In the way we handle issues in the workplace.
  • In the way we defend the weak.
  • In the way we care for the wounded.

Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer

Father, we pray that this week we shall not be ashamed of following you and of being known as a Christian.

  • That we shall not disown you or your standards.
  • That we shall not ignore the honest question.
We pray that this week we shall be glad to know you as Lord:
  • That we shall relax in the knowledge that you are our Heavenly Father.
  • That we shall speak for you and act for you with courtesy and integrity.

Give us we pray the dignity that was in Christ Jesus as he spoke of his Father’s love.

Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
